Description

Credential Manager provides a secure storage location for user names and passwords. The types of credentials that are stored are defined by the installed management solutions. Access to credentials is controlled using the built-in role-based security of the Symantec Management Platform. When a credential is created, only the creator is granted access. If other users need to perform management operations requiring a credential, they must be assigned rights.

Known Issues with Credential Manager 7.0

The following are unresolved issues in this release:

Known Issue Article ID
Credential Manager does not support empty passwords or no passwords

Although WMI supports the ability to take an empty password or no password, Credential Manager does not support this WMI ability.
Empty passwords are not supported at all; however, if you supply no password, the password of the current logged in user is used instead.
At this time, the work around is to supply the user name and password.

When the Remote Monitoring Server is installed on a site server, you must add it to the Credential Manager managed x86 computers filter

When using a dedicated site server to host the Monitor Solution Remote Monitoring Server component, you must add the Remote Monitoring Server computer into the “Credential Manager managed x86 computers” filter. This action allows the Remote Monitoring Server to successfully get credentials. Failing to include the Remote Monitoring Server computer in this filter will not allow the remote computer to get credentials at all.

The User Permission dialog box is not available when creating a new credential

The User Permission dialog box is not available while creating a new credential. To change the permissions for a credential, you must edit it.

The Credential Selector may have display issues

When changing a selection, the Credential Selector interface displays extra padding above itself.
