Description
Altiris™ Deployment Solution 7.1 from Symantec
Release Notes
Build number 7.1.056 598
Introduction
Deployment Solution 7.1 offers native integration with the Symantec Management Platform. It implements redeployments, management, and migrations. The key added benefit is the ability for Deployment Solution servers to share jobs and tasks, images, and security roles. Deployment Solution also lets you take advantage of the hierarchy and replication capabilities of the Symantec Management Platform.
You can access the User Guide from Knowledge Base article 51651.
Deployment Solution 7.1 is part of the following suites:

Features in this Release
The following are features of this release:
Deployment Solution portal
From the Symantec Management Console, under the Home menu, you can now choose to view an updated Deployment Solution Portal. This portal provides unified deployment management functionality with drag and drop support.
PXE
Using PXE, you can implement zero-touch, bare-metal deployments.
Predefined computers and scripted OS installs
From the Settings > All Settings > Deployment and Migration page, you can set up predefined system configuration sets. You can also add OS files for scripted installs from this page.
Initial deployment
The Initial Deployment Settings page lets you set up an Initial Deployment Task or set of tasks that can then be applied to any computer which boots from the CD (ISO) or PXE. Deployment Solution no longer automatically generates the InitialDeployment.Iso during installation. However, if you want to use a CD instead of the PXE image, a batch file is included in Deployment Solution to help you create the file.
DeployAnywhere integration
DeployAnywhere provides support for native hardware-independent imaging.
Computer personality capture and distribution
Deployment Solution integrates PC Transplant to assist you with OS migrations.
