  • Symantec Workspace Streaming
  • Symantec Workspace Virtualization
  • Wise Virtual Composer

Features in this Release

The following are new features in this release:

Support for Windows 7 32-bit editions – This release provides support for the latest Microsoft desktop operating system. Stream virtualized applications instead of reinstalling as you roll out Windows 7.

Wise Virtual Composer – Wise Virtual Composer is a new packaging interface designed to streamline the package creation process. Wise Virtual Composer builds on Wise installer technology to provide an integrated streaming and virtualization packaging experience. Wise Virtual Composer adds support for packaging templates to simplify rebuilding packages, and includes templates for common applications.

New XPF package format – XPF is a new package format that is optimized to both stream and virtualize applications. VSA support remains unchanged in this release so you can continue to use your existing package library until you are ready to make the change. Wise Virtual Composer provides full support for XPF and includes a command-line interface to simplify package conversion from VSA.

Virtualization Support for Internet Explorer – with this release Symantec supports Internet Explorer layers created from either 1) Symantec Services or 2) use of the Internet Explorer creation tool found on Symantec Connect. Run multiple versions of Internet Explorer side-by-side on Windows XP or run Internet Explorer 8 in a layer on Windows 7. http://www.symantec.com/connect/downloads/internet-explorer-8-windows-xp-layer-definition-file

Streaming Server Whitelisting – Whitelisting provides increased security by strictly controlling the Streaming Servers to which an endpoint connects. Leverage your existing Internet Explorer Web content zones or use wildcards to simplify configuration.

Kerberos support for LDAP – Kerberos support provides a simplified authentication mechanism over SSL certificates when connecting to LDAP servers that require LDAP signing.

Dynamic License Management – Reclaim unused Workspace Streaming licenses as hardware is retired. You can filter endpoints based on the last connection date, and reclaim licenses as necessary.

Workspace Streaming SDK

Symantec Workspace Streaming SDK is made up of several web services that are accessed using simple object access protocol (SOAP). The interface is exposed through a web services description language (WSDL) document. The WSDL document provides details on the published methods and objects. Most programming languages provide support for SOAP web services, including C#, Visual Basic, C++, Java, Python, and others. Most languages provide the ability to automatically generate proxy classes using the WSDL document.
