Introduction

IT Analytics Solution complements and expands on the traditional reporting features that are offered in most Altiris solutions. IT Analytics Solution brings exciting features and capabilities to Symantec Management Platform by incorporating multi-dimensional analysis and robust graphical reporting and distribution features. These features let users explore data on their own, without needing to know about advanced database features or third-party reporting tools. IT Analytics Solution empowers users to ask and answer their own questions quickly, easily, and effectively.

New features

 This release provides updates to improve the processing speed of the Symantec Endpoint Protection Cubes.

• All dimensions have been updated to provide performance enhancements allowing the cubes to be processed faster and more efficiently.

Installation and upgrade

You must install IT Analytics Solution before installing any of the associated packs. 

Prerequisites

You must install IT Analytics Solution before installing any of the associated packs.

Software Platforms

• Symantec Management Platform 7.0 SP3 or later 
• Microsoft SQL Server 2005 SP2 or 2008 SP1 Analysis  
• Microsoft SQL Server 2005 SP2 or 2008 SP1 Reporting
• ADOMD.NET 9.0 
• Microsoft Office Web Components 11 (2003)

Hardware

• Pentium 4 1.8 GHz CPU 
• 1 GB RAM 
• 5 GB of free disk space

New installation

To install IT Analytics Client and Server Management Pack SP2 MR1:

1. Launch the Symantec Installation Manager, and click Install New Products. 
2. Change the filter from Suites to Solutions.
3. Scroll down and check IT Analytics Solution SP2, IT Analytics Symantec Endpoint Protection Pack SP1 MR1.
4. Click Review Selected Products.
5. Click Next.
6. Follow the installation instructions.

Upgrade

To upgrade to IT Analytics Client and Server Management Pack SP2 MR1:

1.  Launch the Symantec Installation Manager, and click View and Install Updates. 
2. Change the filter from Suites to Solutions.
3. Scroll down and check IT Analytics Symantec Endpoint Protection Pack SP1 MR1. 
4. Click Review Selected Products. 
5. Click Next.
6. Follow the upgrade instructions.
7. Once this pack is correctly installed you will need to reinstall the Access Rights and Policies cube from the cube setup page if those cube were installed prior to upgrade.
8. Additionally the Clients, Scans, and Alerts cubes will need to be removed and reinstalled via the Cube setup page before those cubes will contain the performance improvements introduced in this maintenance release.
