Does Symantec Endpoint Protection Integration Component uninstall other anti-virus agents?

When Symantec Endpoint Protection Integration Component (SEPIC) performs a migration job, it has the ability to first uninstall certain other anti-virus products, including older versions of Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP). The following describes how this works in more detail:
- In SEPIC (Home > Symantec Endpoint Protection Management), click on Create Migration Job. This will schedule a SEPIC package (which includes a SEP setup.exe install file) to install on the specified range of Symantec Management Platform (SMP) clients.
- When the SEPIC package is delivered to the SMP clients, it first automatically checks to see if there are certain other anti-virus programs already installed. This is accomplished by the package's install script. The versions checked for include:
- Specific Symantec Endpoint Protection versions 11 and 12. These are:
Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.6300.803
Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.7072.1031
Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.0.1001.95
Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.671.4971
Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.825.23
Note: Any older SEP version before 11.0.6300.803 may not be supported and therefore may not work. If this fails to uninstall during an attempted upgrade, the customer may need to either perform the uninstall manually or as a workaround leverage Software Delivery Solution to perform the SEP agent push/uninstall/install, instead of SEPIC.
Additional information for SEP upgrades can be found in the SEPIC 7.1 SP2 User Guide on page 10:

- McAfee VirusScan Enterprise Edition.
- This may also include (but which were formerly only available in SEPIC v6.0): Symantec Anti-Virus (SAV) and Trend Micro Enterprise Edition.
- Consumer-level anti-virus software will not be uninstalled, nor anything not in the first two bullets (with again, possibly also SAV and Trend Micro).
- If the anti-virus software was installed from a suite, such as the McAfee Enterprise Suite, only the anti-virus portion is uninstalled.
- Specific Symantec Endpoint Protection versions 11 and 12. These are:
- The specified (presumably current) SEP version specified in the SEPIC package is then installed. If the current version (specifically, the version that is to be installed, whether it is current or not) is already installed, the install ends as that version is already installed.
Additional Information
- Alternatively, Altiris Software Deployment (SWD) could be leveraged to uninstall anti-virus software and install the SEP install file. For more information on how to do this, please contact Software Deployment Technical Support. Note: If SWD is used to install the SEP install file, SEPIC has therefore no control over whether this works or fails. The Software Deployment Technical Support team would also need to be contacted for assistance in troubleshooting any issues that arise because of this alternate method.
- The scripts that SEPIC uses can be found at: <SMP_installation_drive>:\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\NSCap\bin\Win32\X86 (and X64)\Symantec Endpoint Protection. Note: Symantec Technical Support is unable to assist the customer in modifying these scripts to suite their needs. This is a service provided by Consulting Services, found here:
