Question
The attached .vbs script is used to collect information to help with troubleshooting Task Server problems.

This will work for both NS 6.0 and NS 7.0

Answer

Download the Taskinfo.vbs here or on the right on side.

Modify the top section of the .vbs to fit the environment.

'********** VARIABLES SECTION ****** EDIT THIS SECTION ***********************
'* Log file name and location
 strLog = "c:\Taskinfo.log"
'*
'* SQL Information
'* SQL server to connect to
 sqlServer = "localhost"
'*
'* Notification Server database. Defaults: NS 6.0 = Altiris, NS 7.0 = Symantec_CMDB
 sqlDB = "Symantec_CMDB"
'*
'* Set to yes to authenticate with windows account, set to false to use SQL account
 sqlWindowsAuth = "Yes"
'*
'* If sqlWindowsAuth is false a SQL user name and password must be provided
 sqlUser = "sa"
 sqlPass = "abcd"
'*
'********** END OF VARIABLES SECTION  - DO NOT EDIT BELOW THIS SECTION *******

Run the .vbs and send in the Taskinfo.log to the support technician.

The .vbs can be scheduled to run with a /monitor switch to append to the log file dynamic information.  Such as the number of active connections and cpu / memory utilization for Task Server processes.  This should only be needed if the task server is crashing after a period of time or if the task server has extremely poor performance.
