Starting Backup Exec System Recovery Manager

You start the console from the Windows Start menu.

During the installation of the Backup Exec System Recovery Manager server, you had to specify an administrator account password. When you start the console, you must type the correct user name, password, and server name (or IP address of the server) to access the server through the console's interface.

To start Backup Exec System Recovery Manager

  1. Do one of the following:

    • On the classic Windows taskbar, click Start > Programs > Symantec > Backup Exec System Recovery> Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery Manager.

    • On the Windows Vista, Windows XP, or Windows 2003 taskbar, click Start > All Programs > Symantec > Backup Exec System Recovery> Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery Manager.

    When you start the console for the first time, you may be prompted to install Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 if it does not exist on the computer or you have a previous version of .NET.

  2. Click Yes and follow the on screen prompts to install Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. Otherwise, skip to the next step.

  3. Type the user name and password to the console.

  4. In the Log on to text box, type the computer name or IP address of the Backup Exec System Recovery Manager server.

  5. Click OK.

  6. The first time you log on to the server, click OK, and then click Yes to install the certificate of authority. Otherwise, skip to the next step.

  7. Do one of the following:

    • If you log on to a trial version of the software, enter the license key and then click Activate to activate the Backup Exec System Recovery Manager server.

    • Click Later to activate the Backup Exec System Recovery Manager server later on and continue using the trial version.
