About schedules
The DST feature consists of a scanning and moving engine. You must create a schedule for when you want DST to scan the file system (for example, every 10 days). Once the scan engine runs and locates files that meet the relocation criteria, DST automatically moves them to the tier 2 storage volume. The schedule needs to be set for each file system using the standard UNIX cron scheduler. SFS provides a command-line interface to configure and edit the cron schedules.
For example, if you set the schedule as:
0 0 2 * *
and the policy is set to 60 days, then on the 2nd day of every month, all of the files that have not been accessed for more than 60 days will be moved from the primary tier to the secondary tier.
