Question
How can I scan for font files on a Macintosh?

Answer

To scan for fonts on a Macintosh, modify the SWScan.cfg file in the NS’s C:\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\NSCap\Bin\Mac\Inventory directory as follows:

  1. 1. Add to the <ExtensionMap> section (include all file extensions that you want to detect as fonts):
    <Mapping>
               <Extension>ttf</Extension>
               <FileType>FONT</FileType>
    </Mapping>
    <Mapping>
               <Extension>dfont</Extension>
               <FileType>FONT</FileType>
    </Mapping>
  2. Add to the <AttributeFilterPack> section:
    <AttributeFilter>
               <Name>FONT</Name>
               <Detail>true</Detail>
               <DiskUsage>true</DiskUsage>
               <Package>false</Package>
               <FileType>
                          <Type>FONT</Type>
                          <Include>true</Include>
                          <Use>true</Use>
               </FileType>
    </AttributeFilter>

Once the file has been modified, allow the server to update the distribution points and for the clients to download the new version of SWScan.cfg.

The above changes will work for detecting any other file type (.MP3, .PDF, etc.).
