Creating a cold backup manually using Backup Exec System Recovery or Symantec Recovery Disk
A manual cold (or offline) backup ensures that all database transactions are committed to the hard disk. You can then use either Backup Exec System Recovery or the Symantec Recovery Disk CD to create the recovery point, and then restart the database.
To create a cold backup manually using Backup Exec System Recovery or Symantec Recovery Disk

Manually restart the database anytime after the recovery point progress bar appears in the Monitor page of the console.
While the database is restarted, the actual recovery point is immediately created from the virtual volume recovery point.
