Question
Can I update an existing layer from a command-line?

Answer

You can use the following to update an existing layer from the command-line:

SVSCMD [LayerGUID|LayerName] C[APTURE] [-P|-S|-E]
Use -p and a process to run for single process capture.
Use -s or -e to start or end a global capture.

Any changes made will go to the read-only sublayer.

Example:
SVSCMD "Sample App" C -P "C:\Program Files\SampleAppUpdate.exe"
Before you can do this you need to ensure all layers are inactive. Easiest way to do this is to run

SVSCMD * D[EACTIVATE]
before the capture.
