Symantec Dynamic Multipathing (DMP) Device Specific Modules (DSMs) must interact with Microsoft Multipath I/O (MPIO) to function correctly. In some cases, issues with Symantec DMP DSMs are related to Microsoft MPIO and/or Microsoft Storport driver.

Symantec provides updated DSM / MPIO versions in product releases when Symantec DMP is used. However, Storport driver updates must be obtained from Microsoft Support and may be recommended by Symantec Support.

The following are examples of DMP DSM version updates:

1. SFW 5.1 contains a Generally Available (GA) release of DSM & MPIO (ver 1.18.3790.1920)

2. SFW 5.1 DDI-2.1 contains an update to the previous version of DSM, MPIO remains the same

3. SFW 5.1 SP1 contains an update to the previous version of DSM, MPIO remains the same

4. SFW 5.1 SP1 DDI-1 contains an update to the previous version of DSM & MPIO (ver 1.23.3790.2451)

The above version examples are specific to Operating System (OS) Platform version, i.e. 32 bit or 64 bit. Please refer to associated documentation and/or included Readme files for further details
