Question
What populates the Unix Software Inventory tables? I ran full inventory on a Linux client and the "inv_unix_patches" table is not populated.

Answer
The following tables store Unix/Linux software inventory data:

Table

Data Class

Platform

Inv_Unix_AIX_System_Patches

AIX System Patches

AIX only

Inv_Unix_Patches

Patches

Solaris only

Inv_Unix_PkgInfo

PkgInfo

Solaris only

Inv_Unix_RPMInfo

RPMInfo

Linux only

Inv_Unix_SoftwareProdsInfo

SoftwareProdsInfo

AIX only

Inv_Unix_SoftwareProducts

SoftwareProducts

AIX only

Inv_Unix_SWList

SWList

HP-UX only

Inv_Unix_UnixAuditSW

UnixAuditSW

Used by all platforms. The table is filled with the products defined in the "filescan.rule" file and discovered on the client.

Note: AIX System Patches are not gathered by software inventory unless the NS is configured to do so. This configuration setting is found on the NS Console's configuration tab under Solutions Settings, Assets and Inventory, Inventory, UNIX, Inventory Agent Configuration, All AIX Computers. The 'General' tab has a drop-down list labeled 'Send AIX Patches Info'. The options are: None, All, Down, Correct, Superseded and Not Installed. The default is None.
