Question

What is the procedure to uninstall a Software Update, which has been installed via Patch Management Solution?

Answer
Patch Management Solution looks to see if an update is installed before running any command lines. Because the update has been installed Patch Management Solution will not run a different command line that would uninstall the Update. "C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKB890046$\spuninst\spuninst.exe"

To uninstall and update that was installed with Patch Management Solution, use other means like Software Delivery Solution, Deployment Server, login script, etc. A typical command line would look something like the following.

For KB896688, it would be:

"C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallKB896688$\spuninst\spuninst.exe"

To verify this, each installed update and its corresponding uninstall String can be found under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall.
