Licensing PGP Desktop enables the features included with your purchase of PGP Desktop. You are prompted to enter a license during the Setup Assistant after rebooting your system. If no license is entered during the Setup Assistant, PGP Desktop offers a limited feature set including PGP Zip and PGP Keys. If you did not enter a license for PGP Desktop during the Setup Assistant, this answer provides step-by-step instructions for licensing PGP Desktop.

HOW TO: License PGP Desktop 9.x

In order to license PGP Desktop 9.x over the Internet, it is necessary to submit a name, organization, license number, and optional email address to PGP Corporation's license authorization server. If you have purchased a license, your license number is contained in your PGP order confirmation email, and on the download page of PGP Desktop. If no Internet connection is available, the customer information page of the download link will contain a manual authorization request button.

To avoid typing errors and make the authorization easier, copy the entire license number, put the cursor in the first "License Number" field, and paste. The license number will be correctly entered into all six "License Number" fields.

Note: For versions prior to 10.1.0, if you use a new license for your software, you must use Authorized User for the Name and Authorized Company for the Organization to authorize the license.
