This article describes how to configure the PGP Desktop Notifier settings via policy on the PGP Universal Server.

The PGP Notifier settings of PGP Desktop can be configured by editing the XML Preferences of the Internal User policy. By adding values to the XML Preferences file, you can enable or disable the PGP Notifier and also specify the amount of time (in seconds) the PGP Notifier waits for user interaction.

This article applies to PGP Desktop in managed environments of PGP Universal Server 2.9 - 2.12.

Use the steps below to configure policy settings for PGP Notifier.

Editing XML Preferences

Caution: XML preferences should be edited with discretion. A misconfiguration may cause your PGP Desktop clients to stop functioning properly.

Enable/Disable the PGP Notifier

  1. Login to the PGP Universal Server administrative interface.
  2. Click the Policy>Internal User Policy card.
  3. Click the desired policy to edit.
  4. Under Policy Options, click the Advanced tab.
  5. Click the Edit Preferences... button. The XML Preferences Editor screen displays.
  6. At the bottom of the editor, enter useNotifier in the Pref Name field.
  7. Leave the Type as Boolean and enter true or False for the Value.

True - Enables the PGP Notifier for the PGP Desktop client.

False - Disables the PGP Notifier on the PGP Desktop client.

  8. Click Save.

Configure PGP Notifier Time Delay
