This article describes how to update a PGP Desktop license after renewing the software maintenance.


This article describes the process to update your license number after renewing a subscription license or your yearly maintenance for PGP Desktop.

After renewing your PGP software license, you will receive a new License Number via a confirmation email. Your license number is also available on your account in the Symantec Licensing Portal. Use the following steps to update your PGP Desktop software to the new license number.

 

Windows:

To update your license of PGP Desktop:

 

  1. Click or right-click the PGP Desktop Tray icon in the Windows System Tray.
     
  2. Click About PGP Desktop then select License.
     
  3. Click the Change License button.
     
  4. Type Authorized User for Name.
  5. Type Authorized Company for the Organization.

     
  6. Click Next.
     
  7. Enter the new License Number.

    Note: You may copy and paste the entire License Number directly from your email by placing the cursor in the first License Number field.

     
  8. Click Next to authorize your license.

Mac OS X:

PGP Desktop 10

To update your license of PGP Desktop

 

  1. Open PGP Desktop.
     
  2. From the menu bar, pull down the PGP menu.
     
  3. Click License.
     
  4. Click Change License.
     
  5. Enter the new License Number.

    Note: You may copy and paste the entire License Number directly from your email by placing the cursor in the first License Number field.

     
  6. Click the Authorize button.
