This article gives step-by-step instructions on how to I install PGP Portable.



PGP Portable allows you to distribute encrypted files to users who do not have PGP Desktop software. PGP Portable transports files securely to other systems that do not or cannot have PGP software installed. PGP Portable provides:

  • Portability of secured documents
  • Ease of distribution of secured documents
PGP Portable must be installed on a system with a licensed version of PGP Desktop 9.9.1 - 9.12 which is bound to a PGP Universal Server. PGP Portable will not install or operate properly if PGP Desktop is not already installed and licensed.

The PGP Portable installer is packaged in a compressed (zipped) file. Before running the installation, you must extract the installer from the compressed file.

To install PGP Portable

  1. Copy the PGP Portable compressed file to your system.
  2. Right-click the PGPPortable9x file and select Extract All.
  3. Follow the Extraction Wizard to unzip the file.
  4. Right-click the PGPPortable9x_Inner file and select Extract All.
  5. Follow the Extraction Wizard to unzip the file.
  6. Double-click the PGP_Portablewin... file for your operating system.

    Note: The extracted files include installer files for both 32 and 64-bit systems. The installer files are named PGP_Portablewin32-9.x.x for 32-bit operating systems and PGP_Portablewin64-9.x.x for 64-bit operating systems.

  7. Click I accept the license agreement then click Next.
  8. Click Finish.
PGP Portable is installed and available by right-clicking a folder or USB disk and selecting PGP Desktop > Create PGP Portable Disk....
