Many applications have specific environment settings for file paths, paths in registry values, MSI paths, and so forth. To make Virtual Software Packages (VSPs) portable across computers, Workspace Virtualization provides variables for many application settings and data layer properties. Workspace Virtualization uses common system variables to substitute for well-known locations on a Microsoft Windows based installation, such as WINDIR for the Windows folder. That provides seamless compatibility with any computers that do not use the standard folder structure. For example, a computer where the My Documents folder is moved standard folders are renamed. You can view the variables on the Variables tab of the Edit Layer dialog box.
