Key Event Messages that can be seen when stopping the Indexing Service

This document aims to highlight the key event messages that are seen when stopping the Indexing Service.

 

If there are 32 bit index volumes in the environment

The Indexing service component, IndexBroker needs stopping if there are 32bit index volumes in the environment, which is reported in the event viewer. If it is a fresh installation of V10 or all pre-V10 index volumes have been upgraded, then the Index Broker will not be running and so it will not be reported in the event viewer:

The Index Admin Service starts to shut down

When the Indexing Service starts to shutdown, this is reported in the event viewer:

When the Indexing Service has fully shutdown, this is reported in the event viewer:
