PGP Desktop sits between your email client and your email server to encrypt and sign outgoing messages and decrypt and verify incoming messages. When PGP Desktop is doing this, it is called “in the mail stream.

PGP Viewer allows you to decrypt, verify, and display messages outside the mail stream.
