IM Manager performs logging of Sametime IM messages by using a plug-in architecture.  IM Manager replaces the stChatLog.dll file on the Sametime system.  The IM Mangaer stChatLog.dll is called by Sametime when IM messages pass through the Sametime server.  Then IM Manager performs policy actions and logging if necessary.

There may be situations where it is necessary to temporarily remove the IM Manager Sametime logging integration.  Doing so allows for testing of Sametime functionality without IM Manager involved.

Disable IM Manager Integration with Sametime

1. Stop Sametime services.
2. Open the Domino installation folder, typically this is C:\Lotus\Domino.
3. Find and rename the file stchatlog.dll to imm_stchatlog.dll.
4. Rename the file original_stchatlog.dll to stchatlog.dll.

NOTE: The IM Manager installer renames the original Sametime stchatlog.dll file to original_stchatlog.dll.

5. Rename the file STFileTransfer.dll to imm_stfiletransfer.dll.
6. Rename the file _STFileTransfer.dll to STFileTransfer.dll.

NOTE: The IM Manager installer renames the original Sametime stfiletransfer.dll file to _stfiletransfer.dll.

7. Restart the Sametime Services.

Perform any needed testing.

Re-enable IM Manager Integration with Sametime

1. Stop Sametime services.
2. Open the Domino installation folder, typically this is C:\Lotus\Domino.
3. Find and rename the file stchatlog.dll to original_stchatlog.dll.
4. Rename the file imm_stchatlog.dll to stchatlog.dll.
5. Rename the file STFileTransfer.dll to _stfiletransfer.dll.
6. Rename the file imm_STFileTransfer.dll to STFileTransfer.dll.
7. Restart the Sametime Services.
