Environment:matser server:2008R2,NBU version 7.1.0.2,Different master and Media server environment,Client  Windows 2008 R2, ibm x3650 with a partition uefi.

Issue:

backup jobs for the client with uefi partition,ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES,completing with status code 1-partially success.

Known issue upto 7.1.0.1:-

this is a known issue upto 7.1.0.1 And as per the technote http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH156114 ,http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH140077   the EEB is available to upto 7.1.0.1.As per the release guide 7.1.0.1 http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC3941 the issue is fixed in 7.1.0.1 as added "w2koption -backup -efi_boot_enabled 1" switch in 7.1.0.1.But know information for 7.1.0.2.

resolution steps:

1)check the VSS status by vssadmin list writers if showing "no error" means vss is stable.

2)  try to run the job and collec the bpbkar logs:

3)The Unified Extensible Firmware Interface, also known as UEFI (pronounced “oofy” or “U effy”) was originally developed by Intel to circumvent thes issues related to ACPI and other issue in older BIOS,for its 64-bit Itanium-based servers.

4)In 7.1.0.1 release notes guide the given information about the issue as:-

Etrack Incident: 2323825
■ Associated Primary Etrack: 2085582
■ TITAN cases: 412-398-163 413-376-163
■ Contained in: NBLU_7.1.0.1.WIN NB_7.1.0.1.winnt.IA64 NB_7.1.0.1.winnt.x64
NB_7.1.0.1.winnt.x86
■ Description:
In newer Windows 2008 servers, hardware vendors have made use of uEFI
partitions. This change caused System State Backups to end with a status 1
error in NetBackup.
To resolve this issue, a new switch was added to the following w2koption
command:
w2koption -backup -efi_boot_enabled 1
This enabled NetBackup to successfully backup a uEFI partition.

5)So most of the times we not runs the above mentioned switch in 7.1.0.2 as it's already gets added in 7.1.0.1 But,we  may still need to manually run "w2koption -backup -efi_boot_enabled 1" on the client machine having uefi partition to enable the partition, even though you're already at 7.1.0.2.  This command can be found in .../NetBackup/bin. can be run as :-

<install_path>\Veritas\netbackup\bin>w2koption -backup -efi_boot_enabled 1.

6)After running the command check the back up job.it should end successfully with status code 0.
