For system requirements, see the 6.0 Veritas Storage Foundation for Oracle RAC Installation and Configuration Guide. This procedure describes how to perform a rolling upgrade of SF Oracle RAC global cluster that uses Veritas Volume Replicator (VVR) for replication.
Consider a two-node SF Oracle RAC cluster on each site with the nodes galaxy and nebula on the primary site and the nodes jupiter and mercury on the secondary site. Perform the upgrade on the secondary site and then the primary site. The strategy to perform rolling upgrade on each site is as follows:
Phase1: Split the cluster into two subclusters and upgrade the nodes on each subcluster. During this phase, the installer upgrades the kernel packages. For example, on the secondary site, the node jupiter constitutes the first subcluster and the node mercury constitutes the second subcluster.
