This section explains how to create a storage template using a new template design.

To create a new storage template design

  1. In the Veritas Operations Manager console, click Solutions.

  3. In the Storage Template overview pane, click Actions > Create Storage Template.

  4. In the Create Storage Template wizard, choose New template design. Click Next.

  5. Using the Summary tab, enter the storage template name and description. Storage template name must be unique.

See Create Storage Template - Summary options for viewing or updating the storage template name and description.

  6. Select the file system object from the left navigation tree. You can choose to add an already existing file system template, or insert a new blank file system template. Use +/- buttons at the bottom of left navigation tree to add file systems. Use Summary, Parameters, and Advanced tabs to enter file system-related information. You must select Create file system check box on the Parameters tab for the Advanced tab to become active. After you have selected the Create file system check box, and added at least two volumes under the file system, an additional tab is displayed - DST Policy. The DST Policy option lets you select a DST policy placement for the file system. You have to use the plus (+) sign to add a volume.

If you selected the platform as Windows while creating the storage template, only Summary and Parameters tabs are available.

See Create Storage Template - Summary options for viewing or updating the storage template name and description.

See Create Storage Template - File system parameters panel options - for viewing or updating the storage template.

See Create Storage Template - File system advanced panel options - for viewing or updating the storage template.

See Create Storage Template - File system DST Policy panel options - for selecting the storage template.

  7. Select the volume object from the left navigation tree.

  8. Using the Summary, Parameters, and Advanced tabs enter the volume name, description, and parameters.

If you selected the platform as Windows while creating the storage template, only Summary and Parameters tabs are available.

Repeat this step for each volume object under the file system. You can enter the following volume information on the Summary, Parameters, and Advanced tabs:

See Create Storage Template - Summary options for viewing or updating the storage template name and description.

See Create Storage Template - Volume parameters panel options - for defining or updating the storage template.
