You can create a thin reclamation process for a selected storage array using the Veritas Operations Manager console. The reclamation process is used to reclaim storage from all the selected thin reclaimable LUNs or the LUNs that are associated with the selected thin pool. The thin pools are available if the array supports them and Veritas Operations Manager Storage Insight Add-on for Deep Array Discovery and Mapping is configured for the selected array.
A thin pool is a collection of devices in the array that are dedicated for the use by thin LUNs.
To configure a thin reclamation process for an array
In the Veritas Operations Manager console, click Solutions.
Under the Veritas SF Thin Reclamation section, click Create Reclamation Processes.
In the Configure Reclamation Process panel, enter the name of the reclamation process in the Process Name field and select the Array (Thin Pool/LUN) for Reclaim By option. After you have entered the required information, click Next.
In the Select Enclosure panel, Veritas Operations Manager displays the enclosures that are thin reclaimable. Select the enclosure and click Next.
In the Select Storage panel, you can use either Thin Pool or LUN option to select the storage. These options are displayed only if the selected array has Veritas Operations Manager Storage Insight Add-on for Deep Array Discovery and Mapping configured. If the add-on is not configured, only reclaimable LUNs are available for selection.
You can select only one thin pool at a time. However, you can select multiple LUNs. Select the desired storage, and click Next.
In the Select Scheduled Run Options panel, select the Run this Reclamation Process automatically check box and select the frequency at which you want to run this reclamation. The Run this Reclamation Process automatically check box is optional. Click Next.
The Reclamation Process Summary panel provides you with the details about the configured reclamation process. For example, its name, process scope, selected enclosure, details of the LUNs and thin pools that can be reclaimed, and the start date.
Select the Run Reclamation Now check box if you want to execute the reclamation process immediately after you save it. By default, it is selected. Click View Association Report to view the reclamation process associations report. It provides you the details about the objects that are used in the reclamation. Click Finish to complete the reclamation process.
