How do I upgrade PC Transplant Solution from an old version to a new one?

Answer

There are a couple of ways to upgrade PC Transplant Pro from an old version to a new one.

PC Transplant Solution as installed as part of a Deployment Solution installation

1. Download the latest version and build of  PC Transplant Solution from the following article: HOWTO50290
2. If PC Transplant Solution was installed during the 6.9 Deployment Server installation process, the installation path will be C:\Program Files\Altiris\eXpress\Deployment Server\PCT unless you have Deployment Solution installed on a different drive.
3. If PC Transplant Solution was installed during the 7.1 Deployment Server installation process, the installation path will be C:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Deployment\Task Hanlder/PCT unless you have Deployment Solution installed on a different drive.
4. Create a backup of the existing PC Transplant Solution installation folder (in case you need to roll back to the previous version), by either copying the PCT folder to a different location or by renaming the folder (for example, PCT_OLD).
5. After you have the downloaded installation file, and copied or renamed the existing PC Transplant Solution folder, run the downloaded PC Transplant Solution install executable and install PC Tranplant on the same path where the previous PCT folder was located.
6. Once PC Transplant Solution is installed, you need to run Deployment Server License Utility Key Program to license it.

PC Transplant Solution as a standalone installation

1. Download the latest version and build of  PC Transplant Solution from the following article: HOWTO50290.
2. Create a backup of the existing PC Transplant Solution installation folder (in case you need to roll back to the previous version), by either copying the folder to a different location or by renaming the folder (e.g. to PCT_OLD).
3. On the local coputer PC Tranplant is installed on C:\Program Files\Altiris\PCT.
4. After you have the downloaded installation file, and copied or renamed the PC Transplant Solution installation folder, run the downloaded PC Transplant Solution install executable.
5. At the beginning of the installation process, you will be asked to provide a license key (a file with the name format "xxxxxxxx.lic") to license the program.
