Note the following prerequisites:

NetBackup Enterprise server 7.5 or later must be installed on the master and the media servers. For performing backups of the primary client, the master or the media server can be running any supported UNIX or Windows platform.

To use the features introduced in NetBackup 7.5, NetBackup 7.5 or later must be installed on clients. (For example, NetBackup 7.5 is required to use Replication Director.) Back-level support continues for standard snapshot operations on clients that are at earlier versions of NetBackup.

Note: For AIX and Linux clients, the client data must be in a VxFS file system.

For Instant Recovery using the VxFS_Checkpoint method, the VxFS file system with the Storage Checkpoints feature must be installed on clients.
