How do I turn off the rating feature of the Knowledge Base module of Helpdesk?

Answer

To hide the rating feature of the Knowledge Base:

  1. Browse to \Program Files\Altiris\Helpdesk\AeXHD\ and create a folder named "Custom".
  2. Download the attached file ArticleView.zip and extract the files to your hard drive.
  3. Copy custom.config to the \AeXHD\ folder.
  4. Copy ArticleView.ascx to the Custom folder created in step 1.
  5. Restart IIS.

The "Rate this Article" box will no longer appear after closing a KB article.

Note: The preceding instructions assume that no customizations have already been implemented to the Helpdesk consoles. For customers that have already a custom.config file in the AeXHD folder, these customizations will need to be merged in with your existing customizations. As with all other changes, we recommend performing a backup before you begin.

For customers that have already customized ViewArticle.ascx, an apostrophe ( ' ) needs to be added before the following line of code:

Console.Current.RegisterClientBodyHandler("onunload", "goRate()", Me)

It should now look like this:

' Console.Current.RegisterClientBodyHandler("onunload", "goRate()", Me)
