About silent installation

The silent installation feature lets you automate the installation of Symantec Email Submission Client. Table: Input values on the command line lists the input values that you can use on the command line for silent installation.

Parameter

Description

SILENT_INSTALL

Specifies the type of installation. Following are the types of installation:

  • silent

  • interactive

MSI_EXCHANGE_SERVER_TYPE

Specifies the type of Exchange environment. Possible values are as follows:

  • 1

    Use this value for Exchange 2010 environment.

  • 2

    Use this value for Exchange 2007 environment.

Any other value of MSI_EXCHANGE_SERVER_TYPE fails the installation.

MSI_PORTNUMBER

Specifies the port number where you register the Email Submission Client notification listener Web site.

USE_AVAILABLE_PORT

Specifies if the port number that is mentioned in MSI_PORTNUMBER property is already used. Based on the value you select, you can use any available port between range 8081 to 8100 for registering the Web site.

Possible values are as follows:

  • YES

    Use any available port between range 8081 to 8100.

  • NO

    Use this value to avoid check for any available port and abort the installation if the mention port is already in use.

REINSTALL

Specifies the standard Windows Installer property. The value of REINSTALL property must be set to ALL.

REINSTALLMODE

Specifies the standard Windows Installer property to perform reinstallation.
