Question
Can Asset Management and CMDB Solutions be used when their licenses have expired?
Answer
Asset Management and CMDB Solutions become unusable when their licenses have expired. This will result in the inability to use any or most aspects of the user interface associated with these two solutions, along with the following warning message:
Software License Usage
License for Asset Management/CMDB Solution expired.
For example, this message will occur when the license is expired and the user navigates to in the Symantec Management Platform Console, trying to navigate two the following example areas will result in a license expired warning with then no functionality for the solutions:
- Asset Management example: Manage > Assets > Procurement > Purchase Order.
- CMDB example: Manage > Assets > Manage Configuration Items > COmputers and Peripherals > Computer.
The solution is to obtain a new, non-expired license and then install this into the Symantec Installation Manager on the Symantec Management Platform server. New licenses can be obtained by contacting your Symantec Sales representative, Corporate Sales at (800) 721-3934 or Licensing at (800) 342-0652.
Note: This does not affect other solutions from using Asset Management and CMDB data, but it does restrict the user from being able to access the Asset Management and CMDB user interfaces.
