What are some frequently asked questions about the Installation/Upgrade of Asset, CMDB, and Connector 6.5?

How should I install Asset Management Solution 6.5?

  1. After installing Notification Server 6.0 SP3, open the Altiris Console.
  2. Go to ConfigurationUpgrade/Install Additional Solutions.
  3. Click the A–Z Solutions icon on the Available Solutions tab.
  4. It is possible that a customer may purchase CMDB and not Asset; Read and select the appropriate step below:
    1. To install CMDB 6.5 and Connector 6.5, click Altiris CMDB Solution.
    2. To install Asset 6.5, CMDB 6.5 and Connector 6.5, click Altiris Asset Management Solution.

How should I upgrade an Asset Solution 6.1 or 6.2 installation? (This process will also install CMDB 6.5 and Connector 6.5)

Important: Do not upgrade a beta version to the final release as this is not supported and is known to be unstable!

Important: Do not upgrade from the Currently Installed tab of Solution Center as this will not install all the dependencies required!

  1. Open the Altiris Console.
  2. Go to ConfigurationUpgrade/Install Additional Solutions.
  3. Click the A–Z Solutions icon on the Available Solutions tab.
  4. Click Altiris Asset Management Solution.

What are the Known Issues?

What are the solution dependencies?

  • CMDB Solution 6.5 depends on Notification Server 6.0 SP3 R4, or higher, with Console 6.5.
  • Asset Solution 6.5 depends on CMDB Solution 6.5.
    • Installing Asset 6.5 without CMDB 6.5 is not supported.
  • Connector Solution 6.5 depends on CMDB 6.5 and Task Server 6.0.
    • Connector Solution 6.5 is not supported with Asset 6.2.
    • Users of the Connector Solution Audit Integration Component upgrading to Connector Solution 6.5 are required to upgrade the Audit Integration Component as well
  • Barcode Solution 6.6 SP2 is supported only if both CMDB 6.5 and Asset 6.5 are installed.
