Reclamation reports in Veritas Operations Manager Enterprise Server 5.0

Veritas Operations Manager Enterprise Server reclamation reports show where you can reclaim unused storage.

Description

Allocated LUNs Reclamation

Aggregates information about several types of storage (directly-attached, enclosed, and unenclosed) in the enterprise.

The Allocated LUNs Reclamation report shows the following storage-related information:

  • How much is configured for use (logical storage)

  • How much is available for provisioning to hosts

  • How much is masked to hosts

  • How much is claimed by hosts How much is used and under-utilized

Note:

Claimed means that the host has created a device handle for a LUN.

The enterprise visibility chart starts with physical storage in arrays and breaks down the storage into progressively smaller classifications.

Database Available Storage

Shows information about unused storage within several types of databases (Oracle, Sybase, MSSQL, and DB2).

File System Available Storage

  • Shows information about unused storage within file systems:

  • File System Usage: A pie chart showing the percentage of storage in file systems to which data has been written (used storage) and the percentage of available (unused) storage.

  • File System Utilization: For each file system, this table shows the allocated capacity, unused capacity, percent unused and percent used.

Host Storage Assessment

Shows the overall utilization percentage for each host and how hosts use storage at different levels, such as LUN, file system, and volume manager.

Server Virtualization Available Storage

Shows information about unused storage within storage pools and unassigned virtual machine disks in ESX servers.

Volume Manager Available Storage

Displays information about unused storage within volume managers.

This unused storage typically includes the following types of storage:

  • Unused storage in disk groups or ZPools

  • The capacity of volumes that are assigned to a file system or application that Veritas Operations Manager does not support

  • Any unassigned volumes
