Forecasting Report Wizard parameters in Veritas Operations Manager Enterprise Server 5.0
The Veritas Operations Manager Enterprise Server Forecasting Report Wizard provides the following parameters.
For more information on the wizard, see the following.
See Creating customized forecasting reports in Veritas Operations Manager Enterprise Server 5.0.
Table: Forecasting Report Wizard parameters
Parameter | Description |
|---|
Object for Forecasting | Array Database Disk Group File System Host NAS Volume |
Capacity to be Forecasted | The listed capacities depend on the object selected.
See the tables below: Table: Array capacities
Table: Database capacities
Table: Disk Group capacities
Table: Host capacities
Table: NAS Volume capacities
|
Aggregation Level | Choose from the following parameters to determine the report scope: Enterprise Individual Object Instances If you select this parameter, the next page will display the available instances of the selected object, for example, individual hosts. You can select one or more individual instances to include in the report. Object Attribute If you select this parameter, the next page will display the attributes available for the object you selected. Double-click an attribute in the left pane to display available values in the right pane. For example, for a host, you could select the OS type and then select Linux from the list of values. Business View If you select this parameter, the next page will display available business views. You can select the nodes (instances) to include in the report.
The report shows the confidence interval for the forecasted data if the report is scoped to a single instance, for example, the Enterprise level or a single object instance. |
Forecast period | On the second page in the wizard you select a forecast period for the report. If you select , the forecast frequency is daily. If you select or , the forecast frequency is weekly. If you select longer periods, a monthly forecast is shown. |
The following tables describe the capacities provided by the Veritas Operations Manager Enterprise Server Forecasting Report Wizard.
Table: Array capacities
Capacity | Description |
|---|
Allocated Capacity | The complete amount of storage that the array has allocated to virtualizers as well as directly to hosts. |
Logical Available | The amount of configured storage that has not yet been apportioned into addressable units (LUNs).
This storage is typically part of raw storage volumes such as RAID groups.
Available storage reflects configured storage in arrays and unified storage devices.
|
Total Physical | The total installed storage capacity of the array in gigabytes. This is the sum of the capacity from all installed physical disks on the array. |
Total Unclaimed | The amount of array storage allocated to hosts in which the host's OS has not written a device handle to the LUN. |
Unallocated Capacity | The amount of storage, in gigabytes, for arrays and unified storage devices that is apportioned into LUNs but not designated for use by specific hosts. These are LUNs that have not been masked to a host. |
Table: Database capacities
Capacity | Description |
|---|
Total Available | The amount of storage allocated to the database that is not being used (that is, no data is yet written to it). |
Total Capacity | The total amount of storage allocated to the database. The allocated capacity can include storage from arrays, NAS, and directly attached disks. The source of the allocated capacity could be directly from the raw LUN, a volume, or a file system. |
Total Used | The amount of storage allocated to the database that is being used (that is, data is written to it). |
Table: Disk Group capacities
Capacity | Description |
|---|
Capacity | The total capacity available on the disk group. |
Free Capacity | The capacity available to create volumes. |
Used Capacity | Total disk group capacity on hosts on which volumes are created. |
Table: File System capacities
Capacity | Description |
|---|
Capacity | The total amount of storage allocated to the file system. The allocated capacity can include storage from arrays, NAS, and directly attached disks. |
Free Capacity | The amount of storage allocated to the file system that is not being used (that is, no data is yet written to it). |
Used Capacity | The amount of storage allocated to the file system that is being used (that is, data is written to it). This includes data that is being used by applications and databases. |
Table: Host capacities
Capacity | Description |
|---|
Allocated Consumed | Amount of block storage that is designated for use by this host. For thin LUNs, consumed capacity is included. |
Claimed Consumed | The amount of storage allocated to a host in which that host's operating system has written a device handle to the LUN. For thin LUNs, consumed capacity is included. |
DB Available, | Storage designated for use by databases to which data has not been written.
|
DB Capacity | Storage designated for use by databases.
|
DB Used | Storage designated for use by databases to which data has been written.
|
Diskgroup Available | Amount of storage in volume manager disk groups to which data has not been written.
|
Diskgroup Capacity | Amount of storage in volume manager disk groups on the host.
|
Diskgroup Used | Amount of storage in volume manager disk groups to which data has been written.
|
FS Available | Amount of storage in file systems to which data has not been written.
|
FS Capacity | Amount of storage in file systems on this host.
|
FS Used | Amount of storage in file systems to which data has been written.
|
NAS Storage Pool | Total capacity in NAS-based storage pools visible to ESX server.
|
NAS Storage Pool Available | Available capacity in NAS -based storage pools visible to ESX server.
|
NAS Storage Pool Used | Used capacity in NAS-based storage pools visible to ESX server.
|
Storage Pool Unused | Available capacity in storage pools visible to ESX server.
|
Storage Pool Used | Used capacity in storage pools visible to ESX server. |
Total Allocated Consumed | Amount of total storage that is designated to this host. It includes total block and file storage allocated to host. |
Virtualization Capacity | Total capacity in storage pools visible to ESX server.
|
Virtualization Unused | This consists of unutilized capacity at virtualization layer. This comprises unused capacity in data store and capacity of unused Virtual Machine Disks.
|
Volume Capacity | Amount of storage in volumes on this host.
|
Volume Unused | Amount of storage in volumes that is not utilized by discovered filesystems and applications on this host.
|
