How to use the Source Locator Modifier Feature in the Clearwell eDiscovery Platform

The steps below will explain how to use the Source Locator Modifier feature>>
Step 1: Verify First
Go to the System tab > Support Features
Under Support features -- Step 1: Choose a Support Feature and Step 2 (optional): Choose an Appliance will be shown with a drop down menu for each.
In the Choose a support feature field, use the drop down to select "Source Locator Modifier".
The next field is optional. Choose an Appliance. There is a drop down present if required to switch the appliance. <enter the servername>
Please enter the following parameters.
There are 4 fields present>>
Within Case: (This will show the current available case list. Select the case currently being worked with)
Operation: Here select Verify (This will verify the row counts from tables that will be affected. )
Source: <Source path to be identified and replaced.>
Destination: <Destination path that would replace the Source.>
Click the Submit button. (This will verify the locations in our database)
Step 5: Execution
a. In the Choose a support feature field, use the drop down to select "Source Locator Modifier".
b. Leave the Choose Appliance field the same.
c. Leave the Within Case field the same.
d. Change the Operation field from VERIFY to EXECUTE
e. Leave the Source field and Destination field the same.
f. Check “Save output to file as TXT”
Click the "Submit" button (Note: The submit button will turn gray, this may take some time for large cases.)
When finished it will provide a link to database results. An example will look llike: (D:/CW/<esahome>/scratch/support/esadb/locatormodifier-XXXXXXXX.txt.)
Note: If the UI times out, look for the file in this location: (D:/CW/<esahome>/scratch/support/esadb/locatormodifier-XXXXXXXX.txt)
Optional: (Suggested) The user may need or want to change the “Extracted email files to:” and “Place converted files in:” to an external location.
To do so please follow the instructions below>>
a. Under the all cases drop down, select the case you will be working in.
b. Click on the Processing tab at the top.
c. Just below that click Settings.
d. Under settings you will find > Configure processing parameters and features.
e. Look for the fields “Extracted email files to:” and “Place converted files in:”
f. Please see the highlighted locations below. If they are to be changed to an external location, it will be required to change two properties via Support Features.
To change the required properties:
a. Go to System>> Support Features >> Property Browser.
b. Select the case (or system)*:
c. In the Name of property to change field enter: esa.case.convertedFilesDir
d. New value (leave blank to remove) : New Path <new location for the converted OST/MBOX files>
e. Confirm change. Are you sure?* (check the box)
f. Click the Submit button. This will then display the new value has changed for the specified propterty.
g. In the Name of property to change field enter: esa.case.extractedFilesDir
h. In the New value(leave blank to remove)field : New Path<new location for the extracted PST from LEF files>
I. Confirm change. Are you sure?* (check the box)
k. Click the Submit button. This will then display the new value has changed for the specified propterty.
Once these properties are updated, verify within the property browser that they have been changed by running the properties through the Pattern to Match field and clicking submit.
The results should show>>
esa.case.convertedFilesDir = Newly Specified Path
esa.case.extractedFilesDir = Newly Specified Path
The Sources and Pre-Processing page should show the correct location after the changes are made as well.
NOTE: After a source directory has been moved using the source location modifier the directory will no longer be able to be used to discovery any new files.
