Ability to compress files on managed hosts in Veritas Operations Manager 5.0

Veritas Operations Manager Management Server now lets you set up file compression on a managed host at the file system (mount point) level.This feature is supported for VxFS file systems with Veritas Storage Foundation 6.0 or later on the managed host.

The file compression feature lets you do the following:

  • Select directories for compression

  • Set up a schedule for running the compression process on the host

  • Compress or uncompress directories on demand

  • View a report of space saved by file compression
