Altiris Protect 1.x has reached end of life without replacement.

The intention remains to develop and enhance the Protect functionality in a future version of Software Virtualization Solution (SVS). How it will be positioned, packaged, and priced is to be determined. But it will be there, fully-integrated and co-existing with the SVS functionality.

In the meantime, Faronics DeepFreeze is a viable third party alternative for machine state management functionality. Interestingly, according to Faronics, SVS and DeepFreeze currently work together.

Support will continue to assist customers with configuration and environment issues but product defects will not be addressed until the combined SVS-Protect product is released.
