Through the consolidation of .msi files, the IT Management Suite download size has been reduced by over 1GB. This improves the speed and the reliability of the installation by reducing the number of failure points.

Added additional environmental checks were implemented to ensure that your system is ready for the installation/upgrade. For example, SIM checks to see whether a server is in a hierarchy and prevents you from installing products on a child Notification Server that cannot be installed there.

The name of the product listing (PL) file is now symantec_v2.pl.xml. (The old name was symantec.pl.xml)

Before it performs an upgrade, Symantec Installation Manager automatically deletes \Bad folders and files in the EvtInbox, EvtQFast, EvtQLarge,EvtQPriority, EvtQSlow and EvtQueue folders under C:\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\NSCap. This speeds up the upgrade process.

A new product hot fix installation page was added.

An easier-to-use upgrade interface was implemented that automatically identifies compatible product versions to install and uninstall during an upgrade.
