Process for upgrading from ServiceDesk 7.5 to ServiceDesk 7.5 MP1

Symantec supports an in-place same-server upgrade to ServiceDesk 7.5 MP1 from ServiceDesk 7.5. An upgrade lets you use the same server hardware.

An upgrade is supported only under the following circumstances:

  • You plan to upgrade from version 7.5.

  • You use the same ServiceDesk server hardware (on box).

  • You use the same Process Manager database.

You must migrate under the following circumstances:

Migration involves moving to new hardware.

  • You plan to move to new or to consolidated hardware (off box).

  • You plan to use a new Process Manager database.

  • You plan to move from version 7.1 SP2 or earlier.

  • You plan to move from Helpdesk Solution 6.x.

Prepare to upgrade.

Before you upgrade to ServiceDesk 7.5 MP1, you must prepare your ServiceDesk environment.

Step 2

Upgrade the ServiceDesk Solution software.

Use the Symantec Installation Manager (SIM) to upgrade the ServiceDesk Solution software on the Symantec Management Platform.

Step 3

Download the ServiceDesk installation file.

In the Symantec Management Console, on the ServiceDesk Solution Console page, you can access the ServiceDesk installation file. Copy this file to any server on which you plan to upgrade the ServiceDesk application software.

Step 4

Upgrade the ServiceDesk application software.

Use the ServiceDesk installer to upgrade the ServiceDesk application software on the ServiceDesk server.
