Problem



You installed Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition 7.x or Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 8.x. After you remove pcAnywhere 10.5 and restart the computer, you see the error message "Symantec AntiVirus Realtime Protection failed to load."

Symptoms
Error: "Symantec AntiVirus Realtime Protection failed to load" after uninstalling pcAnywhere 10.5 You installed Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition 7.x or Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 8.x. After you remove pcAnywhere 10.5 and restart the computer, you see the error message "Symantec AntiVirus Realtime Protection failed to load."



Cause



Currently the un-install for pcAnywhere 10.5 is removing the symevent files needed by both programs, resulting in SAV Realtime Protection failure.

Solution



To fix the problem, update the SymEvent files. For directions, read Updating the Symevent files.
