Problem
This document describes how to set up an internal LiveUpdate server for Symantec Client Security 3.0 for Nokia Communicator.
Solution
To set up an internal LiveUpdate server for Symantec Client Security for Nokia Communicator, the administrator must download all of the necessary LiveUpdate files from the Symantec LiveUpdate server and place them on an internal server.
For each product update, there are two files that need to be downloaded (for a maximum of six files). The first is a Livetri.zip file, and the second is the corresponding package.
Constructing the name of the Livetri.zip file
Look for the following files on the Symantec LiveUpdate server:
- For Symantec AntiVirus
antivirus$5fsymbians80__ _livetri.zip - For LiveUpdate
wlu$5fsymbians80__ _livetri.zip - For virus definitions
virusdefs$5fsymbians80__ _livetri.zip
Where
Examples of file names
antivirus$5fsymbians80_1.0_english_livetri.zip
virusdefs$5fsymbians80_3.0_english_livetri.zip
wlu$5fsymbians80_3.0_english_livetri.zip
Examples of file names and locations
HTTP://liveupdate.symantec.com/antivirus$5fsymbians80_3.0_english_livetri.zip
HTTP://liveupdate.symantec.com/virusdefs$5fsymbians80_1.0_english_livetri.zip
HTTP://liveupdate.symantec.com/wlu$5fsymbians80_3.0_english_livetri.zip
If the files do not exist on the server, then an update is not available (the product is up to date).
Downloading the packages
If one of the Livetri.zip files was not available on the server, you do not need to look for its corresponding package (as no update is available).
Package file formats
Look for the following package files on the Symantec LiveUpdate server:
antivirus_symbians80_
wlu_symbians80_
virusdefs_symbians80._
Where
Examples of file formats
antivirus_symbians80_30.zip
virusdefs_symbians80._30.zip
wlu_symbians80_30.zip
Examples of file names and locations
HTTP://liveupdate.symantec.com/antivirus_symbians80_30.zip
HTTP://liveupdate.symantec.com/virusdefs_symbians80_10.zip
HTTP://liveupdate.symantec.com/wlu_symbians80_30.zip
Setting up the files on an internal server
Follow the steps below to place the downloaded files in the correct location on your internal LiveUpdate server.
