Symantec AntiVirus displays the virus definition date in the U.S. format (MM/DD/YYYY) instead of the preferred format for your region.

Solution

Symantec AntiVirus uses the Regional Options setting in Windows Control Panel to determine how to display the date. If Symantec AntiVirus does not use the correct format, modify Regional Options to ensure that the computer is set to the correct region.

To set the Regional Options in Windows XP and 2003
  1. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel, and double-click Regional and Language Options.
  2. On the Regional Options tab, under Standards and formats, choose your region.
  3. Under Location, choose your location.
  4. On the Advanced tab, choose the preferred language.
  5. Back on the Region Options tab, Click the Customize button
  6. In the Customize Regional Options window select the Date tab.
  7. Under Long date ensure that the long date format is the prefered format.
  8. Click OK.

Note: Symantec AntiVirus refers to the long date format in the regional settings when determining how to display the date.
