Error "An error occurred while trying to access the database." while installing Reporting Server with SQL installed on another computer

You install Reporting Server with SQL installed on a different computer. The installation fails, and you see the error message "An error occurred while trying to access the database."
Install Reporting Server again. In the Reporting Install Wizard, on the Database Options page, in the SQL Server Alias\Instance box, type the SQL server's IP address instead of the server's name.
Use the following format, without the brackets:
If the problem persists, read Error: "An error occurred while trying to access the database" while installing Reporting Server.
This problem typically happens in one of the following situations:
- You did not correctly install the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 client components to the computer that runs Reporting Server.
- You did not set up an alias correctly on the Reporting server.
