Problem

Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.x Application and Device Control policies applied to 64 bit clients have no effect.

Environment

Windows based 64-bit platforms.

Cause

In Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0 Application and Device Control is not a supported feature for 64 bit clients.

Solution

Administration Guide for Symantec Endpoint Protection and Symantec Network Access Control - page 514:

"Note: The information in this chapter applies only to 32-bit client computers.
Application and Device Control Policies do not work on 64-bit client computers."

Note: Application and Device Control Policies do not work on 64-bit client computer in 11.0.

Symantec has released Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 with support for application and Device control on 64-bit platforms.
