Vista RTM, SAV 10.2

Solution

By default a Symantec Antivirus installation using the Client Remote Install tool will disable Windows Defender.

To leave Windows Defender enabled:
    1. Using Windows Explorer navigate to SAV\CLT-INST\WIN32
    2. Right click vpremote.dat and open it with notepad
    3. Change DISABLEDEFENDER="1" to "0"

Options for the DISABLEDEFENDER switch are listed here:
    • DISABLEDEFENDER=1 (Disable Windows Defender)
    • DISABLEDEFENDER=0 (Do not disable Windows Defender)

The default setting is: Disable Windows Defender=1 The MSI_FAQ.txt within 10.2 Docs folder describes an MSI switch to disable Windows Defender for a Microsoft Vista installation. The DISABLEDEFENDER switch is used to disable Windows Defender.
