Symantec AntiVirus for Linux: "IdsEncodingFailed" error in liveupdt.log

You run LiveUpdate to retrieve new definitions for SAVFL (Symantec AntiVirus for Linux). LiveUpdate appears to proceded and finish normally, but then an error window appears: "LiveUpdate did not complete normally". The liveupdt.log contains the error "IdsEncodingFailed".

Some Java installations do not include the encryption support that is required by LiveUpdate.
SAVFL is compatible only with Sun Java and requires "unlimited strength" Java encryption.
