Solution

MR2 of the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager is not supported for installation on the Windows Server 2008 operating system. For SEP 11 MR2, only client installations were supported on Windows 2008.

To use Windows Server 2008 as the platofrm for your SEPM, use the latest release of SEP 11. SEP 11 MR4 and above can install the SEPM on Windows Server 2008.
