Warnings:
- Do not use "Rx4Defs" to repair the definitions for Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0. See Using the "Rx4DefsSEP" utility at http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH93036&locale=en_US on SEP 11 clients.
- This utility is provided for your convenience only. Symantec Technical Support cannot provide support for the use of this utility or any scripts calling this utility.
The "Rx4Defs" utility is used to completely remove and replace Symantec Antivirus definitions on computers protected by 32-bit version of SAV. To obtain Rx4Defs please contact Symantec Technical support at:

Once the utility has been obtained, follow these instructions:
Note: The zip file is password protected. To unzip the file use the following password: symantec
- Extract the file to a new folder in a convenient location, such as the Desktop, using the unzip password provided above.
- Execute the tool by double clicking Rx4Defs.exe.
In Windows 2003 server operating system the utility Rx4Defs gets saved to the location "c:\documents and settings" whereas in Windows 2008 server the destination folder will be "c:\programdata" .

Note: This utility will silently attempt to repair the virus definitions on the computer on which it is run. Once the utility has completed its task, which may take several minutes, the computer may need to be restarted for the changes to take effect. This utility will replace the current definitions with a specific set of definitions and the definitions it places on the computer may be out of date. It is recommended that LiveUpdate be run on unmanaged clients after repairing the definitions with this utility. Managed clients should retrieve the latest definitions automatically from their parent server if so configured.
