The Update executed with a result code of 1812, => The install script for this update was unable to launch a file it needed.  LiveUpdate aborted the update install.

LiveUpdate found 1 updates available, of which 0 were installed and 1 failed to install.  The LiveUpdate session exited with a return code of 1806, LiveUpdate downloaded all of the updates you requested, but was unable to install any of them.


Cause



A previous installation of a Norton product has not been completely removed. No other Symantec products are currently installed.

Solution



1. Uninstall SEP and LiveUpdate via Add/Remove applet in the Control Panel.
2. Run Cleanwipe. (Optional) (Request this utility from Symantec Support.)
3. Ensure the following items/locations are deleted:
a. C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared
b. C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec
c. Registry key HKLM\Software\Symantec
d. Registry key HKCU\Software\Symantec
4. Reinstall Symantec Endpoint Protection.
