How do I resolve this error "Symantec CMC Smc has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for inconvenience."
Disable/Uninstall all third party firewall applications (also antivirus) including Windows firewall.
- Uninstall the currently installed version of SEP 11 through the Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
- Restart the computer.
- Verify that SEP is completely removed by reviewing the following document:

- Install the currently available version of SEP 11.
- Ensure anyother remaining firewall or antivirus applications are still disabled.
